Our team

Laverage interdisciplinary Insights

At GS4Infra, we understand that true success is built on collaboration and inclusivity. By bringing together engineers, policymakers, and local communities.

Our story

The main objective is to gain understanding and provide concrete solutions to address gender-sensitivities arising in the policy making and public sector development of the WEC infrastructures, focusing on flood protection dikes, irrigation canal and sluice gates.

Project GS4Infra is a policy-supportive research to address a pressing challenge regarding the resilience of Water-Energy-Climate change (WEC) infrastructures in Cu Lao Dung District (Soc Trang Province, Vietnam Mekong Delta): Design and operation of the flood protection dikes, irrigation canals and sluice gates remain the sole mandate of engineers and technocrats, while gender-sensitive aspects, as important as they are, are largely overlooked.

Mr. Ly Quoc Dang (PhD)

Expert and researcher in the GS4Infra Project

"At GS4Infra, we believe that true resilience in infrastructure begins with inclusivity. By addressing the unique needs of women and vulnerable groups, we create systems that not only protect our communities from climate challenges but also empower every individual to thrive."

We focus on Soc Trang – a representative province experiencing trade-offs in managing water resources, adapting to impacts of upstream hydropower development, and climate change adaptation. The project outcomes will be relevant for the policy and development portfolio for two local communities, and the governmental authorities.

Our achievements

0 Households
Households Participating in the Interview
As part of the GS4Infra project’s commitment to understanding the gender-sensitive aspects of Water-Energy-Climate (WEC) infrastructures, 66 households from Cu Lao Dung District were interviewed. These interviews played a crucial role in identifying the unique challenges and opportunities that gender dynamics bring to the design and operation of flood protection dikes, irrigation canals, and sluice gates. This community engagement ensures that the project’s outcomes are informed by real-world insights from those directly impacted by infrastructure development.
0 Month
Run Project
The GS4Infra project spanned 12 months, during which a comprehensive analysis of gender-related concerns in WEC infrastructure was conducted. This timeframe allowed the project team to work closely with local communities and stakeholders, balancing the technical aspects of infrastructure with social inclusivity. Over this period, concrete solutions were developed to integrate gender sensitivities into the policy-making processes, ensuring long-term resilience of flood protection systems.
0 Livelihood
Models Funded
As a tangible outcome of the project, two livelihood models were funded to support local communities. These models aim to strengthen gender-sensitive approaches to water resource management and climate change adaptation. By empowering both men and women through these sustainable livelihood initiatives, the project not only enhances community resilience but also promotes more inclusive development in the Mekong Delta.
